Legends of Learning is most effective when students engage with the platform at least twice per week for 15–30 minutes per session. Consistent usage across the school year is associated with improved academic outcomes, particularly in science achievement and math fluency.

How Often Should Students Use Legends of Learning?

For optimal results, we recommend:

  • 2 sessions per week

  • 15–30 minutes per session

  • Ongoing use throughout the school year

Regular engagement allows students to reinforce standards-aligned content in math, science, and US history while building mastery over time.

Research Supporting This Recommendation

An independent evaluation conducted by WestEd found that students who completed approximately 50 additional Learning Universe activities across the school year demonstrated significantly higher science achievement on state assessments compared to peers with lower usage.

The study also showed that students who engaged in at least two activities per week experienced measurable percentile gains in high-stakes science scores.

Consistent, structured implementation is key to maximizing impact.

Best Practice Implementation Models

Legends of Learning can be integrated into classroom instruction in multiple ways:

  • Station rotations

  • Small group remediation or intervention

  • Early finisher activities

  • Test or quiz review

  • State assessment preparation

  • Introducing new topics before direct instruction

Both Learning Universe and Awakening support flexible implementation across elementary and middle school classrooms.
