As students answer questions in Awakening, they are assessed on their mastery of a topic. The content of the questions students encounter can be related to:
The topic(s) of the teacher assignment they just completed
The Awakening topic(s) assigned by their teachers
The grade and subject selected in their Awakening profile (if playing independently outside of teacher-assigned content)
Students master a topic by defeating the topic's gatekeeper in the Learning Labyrinth.
Student mastery is calculated using the following rules:
For each correct answer, students will receive 1 point towards their Mastery Score.
For each incorrect answer, students will lose 1 point from their Mastery Score.
Once students achieve a Mastery Score of at least 10, the gatekeeper's shield is weakened, and the students are ready for the final gatekeeper battle for mastery.
After answering two additional questions correctly during the gatekeeper battle, students have officially mastered the topic!
If students struggle on a particular topic, Awakening offers built-in content support including offering related video lessons and educational games. Students can also return to prerequisite topics in order to build background knowledge.
