Along with games, assessments, and videos, teachers can also add Hands-On Activities directly into Legends of Learning assignments! Hands-On Activities are available for select math topics and our library of Hands-On Activities will continue to grow.

Hands-On Activities combine the digital experience of Legends of Learning along with the tactile learning that students love. Students will learn how to play the game by watching a video in Legends of Learning, then use the student printables to play the activity for an amount of time designated by the teacher.

After creating a draft assignment, you will have the option to add a Hands-On Learning Activity.

First click the Add New button from within the assignment builder.

From the content selection screen, click on Hands-On Learning followed by Select This.

Browse the available Hands-On Activities, or search for a Math topic to see if a Hands-On activity is available.

Click on any of the available activity tiles to learn more.

From this page, you have the following options:

  • Watch the video of student instructions to get an idea of what the Hands-On Activity will involve.

  • Click Printables to print out the student handouts that will accompany the Hands-On Activity.

  • Click Teacher Instructions to print a teacher guide for this Hands-On Activity.

  • Click Game to try out the Hands-On Activity as a student.

Additionally, you can find key vocabulary, main concepts, and discussion questions further down the page.

Click Add to Assignment to add the selected Hands-On Activity to your assignment.

Set the amount of time that you would like students to engage in this Hands-On Activity. The time will default to 10 minutes, but this can be adjusted to best fit your schedule. Click I'm Done once you have set the time limit.

The selected Hands-On Activity will now be visible within the assignment builder! Feel free to continue adding more content -- like games, videos, and assessments -- to create a multi-modal assignment for students.

When students start an assignment containing a Hands-On Activity, the activity will show up within the assignment, as shown below.

Students will be able to watch a video for instructions on how to play, then use the printables provided by you in order to play the game.

Students will not be able to go to the next activity until the activity duration, as set by you, has passed. Students can then press the Finish Activity button once the activity duration has passed.
