Why can't I add students to an existing group?

If your class was created using one of the following rostering providers, you will not be able to manually add students to that group within Legends of Learning:

  • ClassLink

  • Canvas

  • Clever

  • Google Classroom

  • Schoology

These groups are automatically synced from your rostering provider. Because of this, group membership must be managed in the original platform β€” not directly in Legends of Learning.

How to Add a New Student to Rostered Groups

If You Use Google Classroom or Canvas:

If the student has already been added to your class in Google Classroom or Canvas:

  1. Log in to Legends of Learning.

  2. Re-import or re-sync your class roster.

Re-importing will not create duplicate accounts. It will simply add any new students to your existing Legends of Learning class.

If You Use ClassLink, Clever, or Schoology:

If the student has been added to your class in the rostering provider:

  1. Sign out of Legends of Learning.

  2. Sign back in through your rostering provider.

The updated roster will sync automatically, and the student will appear in the correct group.

What If the Student Is Not in the Rostering Platform?

If the student is not part of your class in the rostering provider, you have two options:

  • Add the student to your class within the rostering platform (recommended), or

  • Create a custom group in Legends of Learning and manually add students to that group.

You can find instructions on creating custom groups here.
