NOTE: District assignments are only available to partners with a district-level license. District Administrators can log in here. If you have a district-level license and need access to your District Admin Console, please contact us at support@legendsoflearning.com.

When you publish pre-created or self-created district assignments, students will engage in various types of activities.

Games

There are three different types of games that students can play as part of your district assignment.

Instructional Games

Instructional games do not require students to have any background knowledge on the topic. In fact, students learn the content through game play. In order for students to beat the game, they must master the content presented. These games do not collect performance data as their intended purpose is to teach rather than to assess.

Quiz Games

Quiz games are meant to be used after the students have learned the content. Students review what they know by playing an arcade-style game with questions embedded. These games do collect assessment data, which teacher can track from their Student Data page. Quiz game data is not reported at the district admin level.

PhET Simulations

PhET simulations can be used as a hands on lab experience. Students are able to manipulate parts of the simulation to learn more about the world around them. PhET simulations will allow students to explore for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, students are automatically moved to the next piece of content in your assignment.

Videos

Students can watch video lessons from our content library or access those which you embed.

Video Lessons

Standards-aligned, teacher-created, video lessons are able to be added to your district assignments. They are each roughly 3-5 minutes in length and provide students with engaging visuals and demonstrations to further enhance their understanding.

YouTube/Vimeo Videos

If you have video resources from YouTube or Vimeo, you can embed them directly into your district assignments. YouTube videos can have their start and end times adjusted so students watch exactly what you want them to.

Assessments

Students can participate in curated or summative assessments to help you, and their teachers, monitor their progress. You can track summative student data from within your District Admin Console and teachers can see their students' performance on all assessment types from their Student Data page.

Curated Assessments

Curated assessments are used as formative quizzes/exit tickets. They serve as a quick check-in on students' progress as they work through your district assignment. Student performance on curated assessments is available for teachers to monitor. Curated assessment data is not reported at the district admin level.

Summative Assessments

Summative assessments act as a standalone assignment set and do not include games and videos. These assessments act as a great end-of-unit assessment by allowing you track student growth across multiple standards within a unit.
