Pre-created District Assignments are provided by Legends of Learning as an easy way to quickly publish assignment sets to your schools with minimal time and effort. All pre-created assignment sets are state standard and grade-level aligned.
To begin, sign in to your District Admin Console and select Manage in the left navigation menu.
Locate the assignment set you would like to publish. You can use the search bar and filters to help find the assignment. NOTE: Assignment sets that are pre-created by Legends of Learning will have a Legends of Learning icon to the left of the assignment set name.
Once you have located the assignment set, choose the three-dot menu to the right and select Copy and send to Teachers.
This will create a copy of the pre-created assignment set that is ready for you to use in your district. Any editable, unpublished district assignments will have the pencil and ruler draft icon.
On the newly created copy, select the three-dot menu, then select Edit.
This will open the draft of your copied district assignment set.
You can now choose to edit the assignment set or publish it as-is to your teachers.
Edit or Remove Activities
You can add new assignments or summative assessments to the assignment set.
You can also edit any of the existing assignments. To edit the assignment name, choose the pencil icon to the right of the current assignment name.
Click anywhere to the right of the activity bar on any assignment to edit the existing assignment activities.
In the popup window, you can drag and drop to rearrange the order of the activities or click the trash can to the right of the activity to remove it from the assignment. Curated Assessments can be edited by clicking the pencil icon to the right of the activity. Click Save when your changes are complete.
You can also add activities to any existing assignment by selecting the + button and selecting additional games, videos, or curated assessments.
Note: If you don't see a new assignment, assessment, or activity in your assignment set after adding, simply refresh your page. All progress and edits will be saved and the new item should show.
You can also view and edit any questions in a pre-created summative assessment by clicking the pencil icon on the right of the assessment's card.
Removing assignments or summative assessments is as easy as clicking the trash can icon on the right. You will receive a pop-up notification verifying you wish to delete the item.
The order of the set can be changed by clicking the six-dot button to the left of each assignment and dragging the card into the desired order.
Publish the Assignment Set
Before publishing, you need to first specify the dates the assignment set and individual assignments will be available to students. To start, click on Edit Assignment Dates and begin by selecting a start date for the assignment set.
By default, all assignments and assessments are set to begin on the start date of the assignment set, and will be active for 7 days.
On this chart you can change the duration of individual assignments or summative assessments by clicking and dragging the right edge of the assignment block. You can also change the dates the assignment or assessment will be available to students by clicking and dragging the six-dot button until the block spans the desired dates.
Additionally, you have the option to bulk edit assignments. To do so, start by clicking and dragging within the calendar to select all the assignments you wish to edit.
The selected assignments will have a grey border around them, and the Bulk Edit button will now be available to click. Then, choose Set Start and End Dates to choose new start and end dates for all selected assignments.
A popup window will appear, prompting you to select the new dates. This feature may be particularly helpful if you are editing a large number of assignments and/or assessments, or need to make the assignment available to students for further than two to three weeks into the future.
After changes (if any) are made and the dates for the assignments are set, the assignment set is now ready to be published. Begin by updating the grade level, standards (if necessary), and start date in the top banner.
You can also change the name of the assignment set by selecting the pencil icon to the right of the title.
Next, you need to select the teachers this assignment set will be published to. To do this, click anywhere on the white box under Teachers.
Notice that in this new dialogue window, the grade level you selected will follow. All teachers who have chosen this grade level in their account will be shown, and these teachers will be listed under their selected schools
Note: Be sure to encourage teachers to sign into their Legends of Learning accounts (if they haven't yet this school year) to confirm their grade level(s). This will ensure that everyone who should be receiving the assignment set has access to it.
Click the arrow to the right of the teacher count for each school to see the list of individual teachers within that grade level. Then, use the checkboxes to select one or more teachers, or use the checkbox to the right of the school name to select all teachers within that school.
The total count of selected teachers will update above the blue I'm Done button in the bottom right. When finished selecting teachers, click this button.
You will now return to the assignment set. Now, scroll to the bottom and select Publish.
Check the pop-up to verify the correct grade level and number of teachers. As a reminder, you cannot edit a published assignment set, so be sure all details are correct before clicking Yes, Publish.
Now your assignment sets are published to the selected teachers! Teachers will be able to monitor student progress as they would any other assignment, and you will be able to view assessment data when all summative assessments are complete.
