In addition to including games when creating an assignment, you can also include assessments. An assessment consists of questions the students must answer as part of an assignment.

There are three assessment types that can be added to an assignment:

  • Teacher-created Assessments – create your own assessment questions and add them to an assignment

  • Quick Assessments - assessment questions are selected randomly from the Legends of Learning question bank set up for the particular standard that you select.

  • Curated Assessments - for users with premium accounts, you can also populate assessments with questions you choose from the Legends of Learning question bank.

Teacher-created Assessments

After creating your own assessments using the My Assessments feature, you can add these assessments into an assignment.

Click + Assessment, then select Your Assessments.

Search for your assessment by name or filter the topic(s) to view your available assessments.

NOTE: Teachers using our BASIC account will only be able to select assessments tagged to the standard for which they are creating the assignment. Premium teachers can select assessments tagged to any standard.

Click + Add to include your assessment in the assignment.

Quick Assessments

To add a randomly-populated assessment, click + Assessment, then select Quick Assessment.

NOTE - the questions are selected randomly from the Legends of Learning question bank tied to the standard you are creating the assignment in.

The assessment is given a default number of questions. To change the number of questions, use the arrows to increase or decrease.

Click Add To Assignment to add this Quick Assessment to your assignment. You can drag the assessment into any spot in your assignment that you would like.

Curated Assessments

If you have a Premium account, you can also use the Curated Assessment option.

Click + Assessment, then select Curated Assessment.

To build your Curated Assessment, first, at the top left of the window, select one or more Concepts and Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels you want to assess. This will produce a list of questions for you to select and add to the assessment you are creating.

To view the available answer choices and how the question will be presented to students, hover over the magnifying glass icon.

From the list of possible questions, select the questions you want to include in the assessment. You can do this by clicking the + ADD button, or by dragging the question box to the right side of the window.

These questions then appear on the Your Curated Assessment side of the window. You can drag the order of the questions around on the right side to determine the order in which the questions will be presented to students.

Click Add To Assignment to add this curated assessment to your assignment.

By default, an assessment is added to the end of the assignment, but you can drag it to any location.

You can also copy a curated assessment within the assignment track. This is useful if you would like to use that same assessment pack as both a pre- and post-assessment. To do this, click the duplicate icon on the bottom right of the assessment pack.

From there, drag the duplicated assessment pack to the front of the assignment.

Any curated assessment you add to an assignment can be edited by clicking its edit icon. This will re-open the curated assessment editor for you to make and save changes.

NOTE:

  • For teachers with a Premium license, you can add assessments from different standards into one assignment. The option for assessment questions will reflect the standard that you have selected in the drop-down menu.

  • After you assign your assignment and students begin play, all assessment questions must be answered before proceeding to the next game or question in the assignment. Students will be told whether their answers were correct.

  • You can differentiate your assignments by copying assignments and editing curated assessments for different class periods.

  • Student answers and performance for all assessment questions can be found on your assignment data page.
